As a Class 125 fitting per ASME B16.15-2018, the type allows 200 psi (13.8 bar) in non-shock water, oil or gas service up to 66 °C, and 125 psi (8.6 bar) in saturated steam up to 204 °C (400 °F).
The female-female elbow receives two male threads; the B116 street elbow has one male and one female end, saving the intermediate nipple in compact assemblies.
PTFE tape or an anaerobic sealant compatible with the fluid, applied on the male thread entering the elbow; the NPT thread seals by taper interference per ASME B1.20.1-2013 (R2018).
