The stainless steel cotter pin is a split pin for securing mechanical parts by bending its two legs after inserting it into a transverse hole. It is used in castle nuts, clevis pins, articulated shafts, removable mechanisms and equipment where retention must be simple, visible and easy to inspect. At TECTUL it is offered in stainless steel, by unit, with actual inch sizes from 1/16 X 1/2 to 1/4 X 2.1/2. It differs from the Gals cotter pin by material: stainless steel is preferable for humidity, washing, moderate outdoor exposure or environments where corrosion of carbon steel reduces locking device service life.
