03Technical description

The clevis hanger clamp (also called clevis pipe support, clevis clamp or hanging support) suspends pipe from a ceiling or structure using threaded rod: its drop shape wraps around the pipe and allows the line to be aligned at the exact height. Made of galvanized iron to resist corrosion in indoor and non-aggressive outdoor service, it is the standard support for fluid conveying networks in plants, shopping centers and buildings.

How to select and install it

Recommended spacing between supports (reference)

Pipe diameter (steel, water service)Maximum spacing
1/2" – 1"2.1 m
1-1/2"2.7 m
2"3.0 m
3"3.7 m
4"4.3 m
6"5.2 m
8"5.8 m

Before using these data in engineering decisions — design, installation or systems with mechanical risk of pressure, rupture, fatigue, impact or water hammer — you must read the Technical notice and limitation of liability at the end of this page.

Reference values for steel pipe with water according to MSS SP-69 practices. Plastic pipe, vibrating lines or concentrated loads require shorter spacing — validate with your project engineer.

Clevis, omega or U-bolt?

The clevis type is for overhead suspension with rod; the omega clamp fixes the pipe against a surface; the U-bolt fastens it to a profile or rail. If your installation is hung from a ceiling, the clevis type is the right one — and this same family includes the other supports.

04Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the clevis hanger clamp?

It is sold per unit and the price changes by size (1/2" to 8") — each size is shown in the table on this page. For project volume, request package pricing via WhatsApp.

What threaded rod fits it?

The standard support connection is for commercial threaded rod — tell us your clamp size and we will confirm the compatible rod and nuts in the same quote.

How often should I place pipe supports?

As a reference for steel pipe with water: every 2.1 m on small diameters up to every 5.8 m on 8" (table on this page, according to MSS SP-69). Plastic or vibrating pipe requires shorter spacing.

What is the difference from an industrial clamp?

The clevis type is a hanging support for suspending pipe; industrial tightening clamps secure hoses over hose shanks. They are different products and both are in the catalog.

Can it be used outdoors?

Galvanizing withstands normal weather exposure well. For coastal or chemically aggressive areas, ask about stainless support hardware.

How do I install it on 2" pipe?

Order the 2" clevis hanger, hang it from threaded rod anchored to the structure, open the clamp, wrap the pipe and tighten the bolts; level the line with the rod nut while respecting the recommended spacing.

Before using these data in engineering decisions — design, installation or systems with mechanical risk of pressure, rupture, fatigue, impact or water hammer — you must read the Technical notice and limitation of liability at the end of this page.
