03Technical description

The carbon steel SCH 40 butt-weld 90° elbow changes the direction of the line with butt welding: the permanent joint for industrial networks carrying water, air, steam, oils and gases. Manufactured in ASTM A234 WPB under the ASME B16.9 dimensional standard, in long radius (1.5 × DN) — the standard for reducing pressure drop — with beveled ends ready for the root pass.

What is the price of the SCH 40 butt-weld elbow?

The price is per unit and changes by diameter (1/2" to 10") — the table on this page shows each size. For a prefabrication package (elbows + tees + reducers), request kit pricing via WhatsApp.

What does long radius mean?

It means the center-to-end distance is 1.5 times the nominal diameter (for example, 76 mm on 2"). It is the ASME B16.9 standard that reduces pressure drop and erosion compared with short radius.

Will it match my pipe?

Yes, if your pipe is SCH 40 of the same diameter: the wall thickness matches and the butt weld is even. For SCH 80 use the corresponding SCH 80 elbow.

A234 WPB or A105?

For butt-weld fittings (elbows, tees, reducers), the correct specification is ASTM A234 WPB. A105 is the forging for flanges and threaded/socket-weld fittings.

Butt-weld or threaded elbow?

Butt-weld for permanent industrial lines: better tightness and flow. Threaded when you need disassembly or the service accepts thread in small diameters. Both are in the catalog.

How is it welded?

Beveled according to ASME B16.25: tack aligned with the pipe, root pass and fill according to the project WPS (typical E6010 + E7018 on carbon steel — we also carry electrodes in 5 brands).
