03Technical description

The socket fusion welder (thermofusion machine) is the electric tool that joins thermoplastic pipe and fittings by heat fusion: a heating plate with sockets warms the outside of the pipe and the inside of the fitting at the same time until both melt and are pushed together, forming a permanent joint with no threads or cement. This Digital Socket Fusion Welder for PPR covers diameters from 20 to 63 mm with digital temperature control and ships with 6 non-stick sockets (20, 25, 32, 40, 50 and 63 mm), the sizes used in PPR hot- and cold-water networks.

The process reference is DVS 2207-11 (heated-tool welding of polypropylene pipes and fittings), which sets the heated-tool temperature at 260 ± 10 °C for PP socket fusion. The heater of this unit adjusts between 240 and 300 °C, so it covers that working point with adjustment margin.
