The disc filter, also searched as a ring filter or disc strainer, is used to retain sediment in irrigation systems, field water lines, sprinkler protection, drip irrigation and equipment that may clog with sand, mud or suspended particles. Unlike a Y strainer, its filtering medium consists of stacked discs that create retention passages and allow disassembly for washing. This makes it a common alternative in agricultural applications because it combines mechanical filtration, simple maintenance and good retention capacity for water with variable solids. In this product the lot records PVC references, although the inherited material field appears as bronze; for honest publishing, selection must be based on the actual size described in each option and compatibility with the system. The data sheet does not state a specific manufacturing standard, so pressure, mesh or filtration grade must not be assumed without validating the exact reference.

For irrigation with sediment and frequent cleaning, the disc filter is usually more practical. The Y strainer is used more as a compact strainer in industrial or hydraulic lines.
It is installed in the water line before the emitters or equipment to be protected, observing the body flow direction and leaving space to open it and wash the discs.
In Colombian commercial use they usually refer to the same type of mechanical filter with stacked discs or rings. The exact specification must be confirmed by reference.
This lot records PVC disc filters in 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 2".
Yes, it can be used as mechanical pre-filtration in drip irrigation if the size, connection and filtration grade are compatible with the system design.

The dimensions, thicknesses, pressures, temperatures and other characteristics stated in this data sheet are theoretical nominal reference values, compiled from publicly available technical sources: international standards (ASME, ASTM, API, MSS, ISO and NTC, depending on the product) and published engineering literature. They are average approximations intended to guide selection, not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.
Actual values may vary due to conditions inherent to the manufacturing process — dimensional and wall-thickness tolerances (in pipe, typically ±12.5%), surface finish and residual stresses from forming or welding — and to factors inherent to the raw material — chemical composition variations within the ranges allowed by the standard, inclusions or heat-to-heat differences. They may also be affected by in-service events not foreseeable at design time: water hammer, vibration, thermal and mechanical fatigue, corrosion and operating overpressures, which can cause the element to fail before its estimated service life.
To know the certified behavior of a specific lot, TECTUL supplies upon request the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC) issued per the product standard; for critical applications, laboratory testing of the lot can also be arranged. In the absence of such certification, the data provided here must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever the integrity of the line may compromise the lives of people or property; in such cases, consult our technical team first.
