Medium-pressure hydraulic hose under SAE 100 R5, with a synthetic rubber inner tube, one steel wire braid plus a synthetic textile reinforcement layer, and a textile-reinforced cover. Covers 3/16″ to 3″, with working pressure from 200 to 3000 psi (14 to 207 bar) depending on diameter and a 1:3 safety factor. Service range -40 °C to +100 °C. Used in heavy machinery and industries with sustained hydraulic pressures at 100 °C, where the textile cover adds extra abrasion resistance versus the standard R5 construction (textile and steel mesh), which lives on a separate sheet.

This technical data sheet is a reference guide to the properties of this product type; it is not a quality certificate for the product you are buying. The measurements, dimensions and physical or geometric characteristics of the product supplied may vary by manufacturer, heat and lot, and may even fall outside the cited standards. If any of these figures is critical to your design or build, verify it with one of our advisors against the physical product or the lot's mill certificate, so you can be fully certain of what you are buying. · Original data sheet: tectul.com/en/conduccion-de-fluidos/mangueras/ficha-tecnica-manguera-sae-100-r5-cubierta-textil.html
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Inner tube | Synthetic rubber |
| Reinforcement | 1 steel wire braid + synthetic textile reinforcement |
| Cover | Textile reinforced (higher abrasion resistance than a plain cover) |
| Service temperature | -40 °C to +100 °C |
| Safety factor | 1:3 (W/P to B/P ratio) |
Compared with the catalog's standard R5 construction (textile mesh + steel mesh, 1:4 factor), this variant swaps the reinforcement for a full steel braid plus textile and adds a textile-reinforced cover. The result is a hose built for constant dragging and rubbing against machine structures — typical in heavy machinery and industrial settings where the hose is exposed rather than protected inside a harness — at the cost of a more conservative design safety factor (1:3 vs. 1:4). This is not a quality hierarchy: they are two constructions for two different installation environments.
The 1:3 factor here and the 1:4 factor on the standard R5 reflect what each manufacturer sheet declares for its own construction; do not compare absolute W/P between the two without also checking each one's B/P, already shown in their respective tables.
The reinforcement: this version uses a full steel braid plus textile under a textile-reinforced cover, aimed at heavy machinery exposed to rubbing; the standard R5 uses combined textile and steel mesh with a plain cover. See the sibling sheet for that construction.
The textile cover resists the environment, but the manufacturer does not declare special UV protection; for prolonged sun exposure, confirm additional compatibility with the supplier.
50 m for diameters 3/16″ to 7/8″ and 20 m for 1-1/8″ to 3″, per the technical data table.
Do not swap this reference with the standard R5 without checking the W/P for the exact diameter: both share the standard but not the pressure table.
Suitable for runs that rub against structure; still, use additional protection (sleeve or spiral guard) at sharp contact points.
Check the declared safety factor (1:3) against the project requirement before substituting for a 1:4-factor hose.
The pressures, dimensions, weights and other characteristics in this sheet are theoretical calculation values obtained from nominal properties published in the standards cited (ASME B36.10-2022, ASME B31.3-2024, ASTM A106/A106M-19a, ASTM A53/A53M-24, API Spec 5L 46th ed.). They guide selection; they are not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.
The actual behavior of each lot varies with manufacturing — wall tolerance (up to −12.5%), out-of-roundness, residual stresses — and with the raw material — chemical composition within the ranges the standard allows, heat-to-heat differences. To certify a lot, the tests defined by its product standard are required: tensile test, flattening test and hydrostatic test, documented in the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC), which TECTUL supplies upon request; testing of the lot in an independent laboratory can also be arranged.
These values must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever failure of the line may compromise people, property or the environment: in such cases the design belongs to the project's responsible engineer under the applicable code (ASME B31.3, B31.1 or the one governing the installation), with the design temperature, corrosion allowance and load cases of the actual service.
