SAE 100R6 / EN 854 NBR hose — fuel lines

TECTUL · Dispatch across Colombia · Exports to Central & South America

Hydraulic and fuel-service hose under SAE 100R6 / EN 854, with an NBR (nitrile rubber) inner tube and cover and high-resistance polyester reinforcement. Covers 1/4″ to 3/4″, with a constant 400 psi (28 bar) working pressure across the range and a 1:3 safety factor. Service range -40 °C to +90 °C. Formulated for fuel lines and petroleum-derivative discharge with up to 50% aromatic content; it is distinct from the catalog's synthetic rubber SAE 100R6 hose (textile mesh, general low-pressure use), which lives on a separate sheet.

IMPORTANT
This technical data sheet is a reference guide to the properties of this product type; it is not a quality certificate for the product you are buying. The measurements, dimensions and physical or geometric characteristics of the product supplied may vary by manufacturer, heat and lot, and may even fall outside the cited standards. If any of these figures is critical to your design or build, verify it with one of our advisors against the physical product or the lot's mill certificate, so you can be fully certain of what you are buying. · Original data sheet: tectul.com/en/conduccion-de-fluidos/mangueras/ficha-tecnica-manguera-sae-100r6-en-854.html

The manufacturer sheet's B/P column repeats the same value as W/P (400/28); this is not a real 1:1 safety factor — the manufacturer does not publish a separate burst value for this reference, and it is declared as-is rather than inventing an unpublished burst figure.

2. Why NBR and not generic synthetic rubber

NBR (nitrile-butadiene rubber) is the reference elastomer for hydrocarbons because its molecular structure resists the swelling that gasoline and diesel cause in generic rubbers. The declared 50% aromatic-content limit matters because aromatics (benzene, toluene, xylene present in some gasolines) are the most aggressive components for NBR: above that percentage the manufacturer does not guarantee compatibility, and a higher-resistance formulation (e.g. high-acrylonitrile NBR or fluoroelastomer) should be consulted. Do not use the catalog's synthetic rubber SAE 100R6 hose for this application: its tube is not formulated for aromatic hydrocarbons.

3. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this hose suitable for gasoline with more than 50% aromatics?

Not without confirming with the manufacturer: above that limit the standard NBR declared in this sheet does not guarantee compatibility; a different formulation is required.

What is the difference from the catalog's synthetic rubber SAE 100R6 hose?

The tube material: this one is NBR formulated for fuel; the other is generic synthetic rubber for low-pressure oil and lubrication, with no declared compatibility with aromatic hydrocarbons. They are not interchangeable.

Why are W/P and B/P the same number?

Because this reference's manufacturer does not publish a burst value distinct from the working pressure; the sheet declares it as documented, without inventing an unverified B/P.

4. Application notes

Feasibility

Confirm the line fuel's actual aromatic content before specifying; above 50% consult a different formulation with the supplier.

Installation

Respect the minimum bend radius per diameter and use fittings compatible with fuel (no materials that degrade on contact with hydrocarbons).

Design

Do not substitute the catalog's generic synthetic rubber construction in fuel service.

5. Technical notice and limitation of liability

The pressures, dimensions, weights and other characteristics in this sheet are theoretical calculation values obtained from nominal properties published in the standards cited (ASME B36.10-2022, ASME B31.3-2024, ASTM A106/A106M-19a, ASTM A53/A53M-24, API Spec 5L 46th ed.). They guide selection; they are not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.

The actual behavior of each lot varies with manufacturing — wall tolerance (up to −12.5%), out-of-roundness, residual stresses — and with the raw material — chemical composition within the ranges the standard allows, heat-to-heat differences. To certify a lot, the tests defined by its product standard are required: tensile test, flattening test and hydrostatic test, documented in the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC), which TECTUL supplies upon request; testing of the lot in an independent laboratory can also be arranged.

These values must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever failure of the line may compromise people, property or the environment: in such cases the design belongs to the project's responsible engineer under the applicable code (ASME B31.3, B31.1 or the one governing the installation), with the design temperature, corrosion allowance and load cases of the actual service. Before deciding with these data, consult our technical team.
