Terrano hose — sludge suction and discharge

Hose made of thermoplastic copolymer with annular (corrugated) reinforced construction, for sludge suction and discharge, portable toilet service, septic tanks, sewage, energy and aqueduct work. Covers 1-1/4″ to 3″, in 30 and 50 meter rolls, with vacuum pressure of 30 inHg at 1-1/4″ to 2″ and 3 inHg at 3″. Service range -5 °C to +50 °C, 3% dimensional tolerance. 2. Why allowable vacuum drops from 30 to 3 inHg at 3″

The annular (corrugated) reinforced construction gives extreme flexibility but relies on the spiral's geometry to resist collapse under vacuum; at a larger diameter, the same relative reinforcement geometry loses efficiency against the area exposed to differential pressure, and the manufacturer declares a sharp drop from 30 to just 3 inches of mercury going from 2″ to 3″. This is a real and significant limitation: if the application requires deep suction at 3″, this construction may not be adequate and must be checked against the actual vacuum equipment before specifying.

Declared applications and chemical compatibility

The manufacturer lists very diverse applications — sludge, portable toilets, septic tanks, sewage, energy and aqueduct work — but includes an explicit warning: verify that the fluid is chemically compatible with the hose before use. This matters because "sludge" and "septic tanks" can involve variable content of greases, solvents or treatment chemicals that not every thermoplastic copolymer tolerates equally.

Why is the allowable vacuum so low at 3″?

Because the annular reinforced construction loses efficiency against collapse at larger diameters; the manufacturer declares only 3 inches of mercury at 3″, versus 30 at the smaller diameters.

Is it suitable for any sludge or septic tank fluid?

Not without verification: the manufacturer explicitly warns to check the specific fluid's chemical compatibility before using the hose.

Is it weather resistant?

Yes, UV and moisture resistant per the manufacturer, suitable for outdoor use on service equipment such as portable toilet trucks.

Check the equipment's actual vacuum against the table, especially at 3″ where the limit drops to only 3 inHg.

The pressures, dimensions, weights and other characteristics in this sheet are theoretical calculation values obtained from nominal properties published in the standards cited (ASME B36.10-2022, ASME B31.3-2024, ASTM A106/A106M-19a, ASTM A53/A53M-24, API Spec 5L 46th ed.). They guide selection; they are not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.

The actual behavior of each lot varies with manufacturing — wall tolerance (up to −12.5%), out-of-roundness, residual stresses — and with the raw material — chemical composition within the ranges the standard allows, heat-to-heat differences. To certify a lot, the tests defined by its product standard are required: tensile test, flattening test and hydrostatic test, documented in the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC), which TECTUL supplies upon request; testing of the lot in an independent laboratory can also be arranged.

These values must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever failure of the line may compromise people, property or the environment: in such cases the design belongs to the project's responsible engineer under the applicable code (ASME B31.3, B31.1 or the one governing the installation), with the design temperature, corrosion allowance and load cases of the actual service.
