02Technical description

The flexible grooved coupling connects grooved piping in fire protection networks when the layout needs to allow small alignment variations, vibration or controlled movement without welding or threading. It is manufactured in ASTM A536 ductile iron and specified for systems with UL/FM listed components, provided the final selection is compatible with the project's pipe, groove and gasket. Its main difference compared with a rigid grooved coupling is the ability to allow limited deflection and displacement between ends, making it useful in areas with direction changes, equipment, pumps or runs where installation requires tolerance. Selection should not be based only on price: diameter, groove type, elastomer, wet or dry system application and fire protection network approval requirements must be reviewed.
