02Technical description

The 90° and 45° grooved elbow allows the direction of a pipe to be changed in fire protection networks without field welding, using compatible grooved couplings. It is a ductile iron fitting for UL/FM listed systems and is used in risers, branches, pump rooms, rings and takeoffs where mechanical installation reduces installation time. The 90° elbow is used for tight turns and perpendicular changes; the 45° elbow helps soften offsets, improve alignment and resolve routes with a less abrupt direction change. Unlike a grooved tee or mechanical tee, it does not create a branch: it only redirects the flow. To choose it, nominal diameter, angle, groove profile, available space, coupling type and approval required by the fire protection design must be cross-checked.

03Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the 90° or 45° grooved elbow?

It depends on diameter, angle, availability, requested approval and quantity. TECTUL quotes per unit for nationwide dispatch.

What is the difference between a 90° and a 45° grooved elbow?

The 90° elbow changes direction at a right angle. The 45° elbow creates a smoother offset and is used when the layout allows it.

How is a grooved elbow installed?

It is connected to grooved pipe with compatible couplings, checking alignment, gasket, clean grooves and uniform bolt tightening.

How is it different from a grooved tee?

The elbow only changes flow direction. The grooved tee allows an additional takeoff or branch to be created in the network.

Is it suitable for certified fire protection networks?

Yes, when the fitting and couplings meet the listings and approvals required by the system design.

What should I send for a quote?

Diameter, required angle, quantity, delivery city and whether you need UL/FM document support for the project.
