The supervised grooved butterfly valve is a control valve for fire protection networks that combines grooved ends, a ductile iron body and a supervisory device to indicate open or closed position to the monitoring system. It is used in risers, pump rooms, main branches and zones where the design requires fast sectioning with visual and electrical confirmation. Unlike a grooved butterfly valve with handwheel and no supervision, this version incorporates signaling to reduce the risk of leaving a line closed without warning. In PCI projects, selection must review diameter, grooved connection type, coupling compatibility, UL/FM listing, panel requirements and accessibility for operation. It should not be chosen only by price: a poorly specified control valve can affect testing, maintenance and system availability.

The supervised valve includes a position signal for monitoring. The handwheel valve without supervision only allows manual operation and local visual verification.
