03Technical description

Schedule 10 carbon steel pipe is light-wall pipe for industrial conveying when the engineering calculation does not require a heavier schedule. It is selected by NPS, material, thickness, fluid, temperature and design code; ASME B36.10M defines dimensions by schedule and standards such as ASTM A53/A106 may apply according to manufacture and service. Its advantage over SCH80 or SCH160 is lower weight and cost per length, but it must not replace higher-thickness pipe without validating pressure, corrosion allowance and installation.

04Calculator: which schedule do I need?

Pick your diameter and service conditions: the calculator estimates the indicative allowable pressure of each schedule so you can compare.

Estimate using Barlow's formula (12.5% manufacturing tolerance, approximate allowable stress for ASTM A106 Gr. B per ASME B31.3). It is a comparison guide — it does not replace engineering calculations or your project's design code. 05Frequently asked questions

What is the price of Schedule 10 carbon steel pipe?

The price depends on diameter, requested standard, quantity, finish and availability. At TECTUL we quote by pipe or by project with nationwide delivery.

How does it differ from seamless Schedule 80 carbon steel pipe?

SCH10 is a lighter-wall option for lines with lower calculated requirements; seamless SCH80 is used when the design requires greater thickness and mechanical demand.

How is this Schedule 10 pipe installed or mounted?

It is normally installed by welding or with compatible fittings, according to the line specification. End preparation, alignment and procedure must be validated before pressurizing.

Which dimensional standard applies?

ASME B36.10M is used for dimensions by schedule; the manufacturing standard may vary between ASTM A53, ASTM A106 or another project specification.

What pressure does it withstand?

There is no single publishable pressure for SCH10. It must be calculated with diameter, thickness, material, temperature, corrosion allowance and design code.

Do you dispatch to other cities?

Yes. TECTUL dispatches to Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and all of Colombia depending on availability and logistics instructions.

Before using these data in engineering decisions — design, installation or systems with mechanical risk of pressure, rupture, fatigue, impact or water hammer — you must read the Technical notice and limitation of liability at the end of this page.
