The PVC air valve serves irrigation and water conveyance networks: it expels air from the pipe while filling and admits air while draining to prevent vacuum collapse of the line. PVC body, threaded connection from 3/4" to 2" (DN 20-50), vertical mounting at the high points of the network.
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Function | Air/vacuum: air expulsion when filling and air admission when draining; whether the lot model adds automatic air release under pressure is confirmed when quoting |
| Functional classification | AWWA C512-25 defines the three air valve types: air-release, air/vacuum and combination; that standard scope covers metallic bodies — the PVC body follows the manufacturer catalog |
| Body | Rigid PVC — compounds classified per ASTM D1784-25; lot cell class confirmed when quoting |
| Connection | Threaded; lot thread standard confirmed when quoting |
| Lot sizes | 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 2" (DN 20, 25, 32, 40, 50) |
| Working pressure | Not published for the PVC type — confirm the lot value when quoting |
| Mounting | Vertical, at the high points of the network profile |

It removes air from the pipe when filling and lets air in when draining: without it, trapped air reduces flow and hammers fittings, and vacuum during draining can collapse plastic pipe. It is installed at the high points of the network profile.
At every high point of the route and at slope changes where air accumulates, always vertical and with an isolation valve below it for maintenance.
Per the AWWA C512-25 classification, the air-release type expels the air that accumulates during pressurized operation; the air/vacuum type moves large air volumes only when filling and draining; the combination type does both. This reference covers the air/vacuum function; whether the lot model adds air release is confirmed when quoting.
The price depends on the size (3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" or 2"), quantity and availability. TECTUL quotes per unit with the actual network pressure and fluid.

The dimensions, thicknesses, pressures, temperatures and other characteristics stated in this data sheet are theoretical nominal reference values, compiled from publicly available technical sources: international standards (ASME, ASTM, API, MSS, ISO and NTC, depending on the product) and published engineering literature. They are average approximations intended to guide selection, not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.
Actual values may vary due to conditions inherent to the manufacturing process — dimensional and wall-thickness tolerances (in pipe, typically ±12.5%), surface finish and residual stresses from forming or welding — and to factors inherent to the raw material — chemical composition variations within the ranges allowed by the standard, inclusions or heat-to-heat differences. They may also be affected by in-service events not foreseeable at design time: water hammer, vibration, thermal and mechanical fatigue, corrosion and operating overpressures, which can cause the element to fail before its estimated service life.
To know the certified behavior of a specific lot, TECTUL supplies upon request the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC) issued per the product standard; for critical applications, laboratory testing of the lot can also be arranged. In the absence of such certification, the data provided here must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever the integrity of the line may compromise the lives of people or property; in such cases, consult our technical team first.
