Seamless Schedule 80 carbon steel pipe is pipe with a more robust wall than SCH10 and SCH40 for industrial lines where the calculation requires greater thickness, material continuity and seamless manufacture. Schedule dimensions are consulted in ASME B36.10M and manufacturing may be specified under ASTM A106/A106M or ASTM A53/A53M depending on service. It differs from SCH160 because it does not seek to cover the heaviest requirement of the family, but rather an upper-intermediate range for processes, steam, air, industrial water or mechanical networks that require pressure and temperature validation.

Pick your diameter and service conditions: the calculator estimates the indicative allowable pressure of each schedule so you can compare.
| Schedule | Wall thickness (mm) | Indicative pressure |

It depends on diameter, requested meters, manufacturing standard and availability. TECTUL quotes by meter or by length according to the requirement.
SCH80 has lower relative thickness than SCH160 and is usually selected when the calculation does not require the heaviest schedule.
It is generally installed by welding with end preparation and fittings of the same schedule or compatible with the design.
Reported sizes: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2" and 2".
A single pressure is not published. It is calculated with NPS, thickness, material, temperature, corrosion allowance and applicable code.
Certificates or traceability may be requested when available supply and the specification allow it.

The dimensions, thicknesses, pressures, temperatures and other characteristics stated in this data sheet are theoretical nominal reference values, compiled from publicly available technical sources: international standards (ASME, ASTM, API, MSS, ISO and NTC, depending on the product) and published engineering literature. They are average approximations intended to guide selection, not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.
Actual values may vary due to conditions inherent to the manufacturing process — dimensional and wall-thickness tolerances (in pipe, typically ±12.5%), surface finish and residual stresses from forming or welding — and to factors inherent to the raw material — chemical composition variations within the ranges allowed by the standard, inclusions or heat-to-heat differences. They may also be affected by in-service events not foreseeable at design time: water hammer, vibration, thermal and mechanical fatigue, corrosion and operating overpressures, which can cause the element to fail before its estimated service life.
To know the certified behavior of a specific lot, TECTUL supplies upon request the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC) issued per the product standard; for critical applications, laboratory testing of the lot can also be arranged. In the absence of such certification, the data provided here must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever the integrity of the line may compromise the lives of people or property; in such cases, consult our technical team first.
