Heavy type galvanized SCH40 pipe is steel pipe with zinc coating for conveying networks where greater thickness than a light line is required. It is used in industrial installations, exposed networks and threaded assemblies or with compatible fittings, always validating the fluid and applicable code. Schedule dimensions are referenced in ASME B36.10M and galvanized pipe may be specified under ASTM A53 when the project requires it. It differs from light galvanized pipe by its orientation to more demanding work and from black steel by its anticorrosive coating.

We dispatch to Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and all of Colombia. Request a quote via WhatsApp indicating size, number of pipes and whether you need threaded fittings or installation complements.
It depends on size, quantity, required standard and availability. TECTUL quotes per 6-meter pipe and can include fittings if you need them.
Heavy type SCH40 is oriented to greater thickness and conveying demand; light type is selected for lower weight and cost when the design allows it.
It is usually installed with thread and compatible fittings. Sealants, alignment, thread protection and supports must be handled so the joint is not loaded.
It may be used if the fluid, temperature and network code are compatible with galvanized steel. Universal compatibility should not be assumed.
According to the current lot, TECTUL handles it in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 2", 2-1/2", 3", 4" and 6".
Yes. We coordinate dispatch to main cities and municipalities depending on availability, volume and transport conditions.

The dimensions, thicknesses, pressures, temperatures and other characteristics stated in this data sheet are theoretical nominal reference values, compiled from publicly available technical sources: international standards (ASME, ASTM, API, MSS, ISO and NTC, depending on the product) and published engineering literature. They are average approximations intended to guide selection, not a certificate of conformity for any given lot.
Actual values may vary due to conditions inherent to the manufacturing process — dimensional and wall-thickness tolerances (in pipe, typically ±12.5%), surface finish and residual stresses from forming or welding — and to factors inherent to the raw material — chemical composition variations within the ranges allowed by the standard, inclusions or heat-to-heat differences. They may also be affected by in-service events not foreseeable at design time: water hammer, vibration, thermal and mechanical fatigue, corrosion and operating overpressures, which can cause the element to fail before its estimated service life.
To know the certified behavior of a specific lot, TECTUL supplies upon request the manufacturer's mill test certificate (MTC) issued per the product standard; for critical applications, laboratory testing of the lot can also be arranged. In the absence of such certification, the data provided here must not be used as the sole criterion in critical or safety applications, or wherever the integrity of the line may compromise the lives of people or property; in such cases, consult our technical team first.
