01Technical description

Industrial cylindrical and NH fuses protect circuits per IEC 60269, in class gG (general purpose: overload and short circuit) or aM (motor back-up: short circuit only). Standard cylindrical sizes 10×38, 14×51 and 22×58 mm reach 32, 50 and 125 A; NH sizes 00 to 3 cover up to 630 A.

Industrial fuse holders and fuses protect circuits through a replaceable element that opens under current faults according to its type and operating curve. They are used in power, control and automation panels, capacitor banks, equipment backup, control transformer supply and selective protection where it is useful to isolate a specific branch. Unlike a DIN rail circuit breaker, the fuse does not reset: after operating it must be replaced with a compatible reference. Compared with a main breaker, it works as point protection or backup within broader coordination. To quote it, fuse holder format, DIN rail mounting or industrial base, fuse type, voltage, current, application, number of poles and physical compatibility with the panel must be defined. TECTUL supplies alternatives for maintenance, replacement and panel assembly, focusing on correct selection instead of replacing references by visual similarity.

Selection guide

  • Identify whether you need a cylindrical, NH or other fuse format compatible with the existing base.
  • Confirm voltage, current, application and load type before choosing the fuse.
  • Validate whether the fuse holder must be disconnecting, modular for DIN rail or an industrial base.
  • Do not mix formats or replace fuses with references of unknown curve.
  • Coordinate the fuse with upstream breakers and protections in the panel.

Mounting recommendations

  • De-energize and verify absence of voltage before removing or inserting fuses.
  • Use the extractor or suitable accessory when the fuse format requires it.
  • Check contact pressure, heating, carbonization and fuse holder condition.
  • Label amperage, circuit and reference to prevent incorrect replacements.
  • Installation and replacement must be performed by qualified persons according to RETIE and NTC 2050.

We dispatch to Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and all of Colombia. Request a quote via WhatsApp for industrial fuse holders and fuses indicating format, current, voltage, application, quantity and a photo of the base if it is a replacement.

Sizes and currents per the IEC 60269 series, with typical 500 V rating and high breaking capacity (100 kA in gG cylindricals per catalogs). DIN-rail disconnect fuse holders allow opening the circuit and changing the fuse without tools.

02Frequently asked questions

What is the price of industrial fuse holders and fuses?

They are quoted via WhatsApp because the value depends on format, current, voltage, fuse type, fuse holder base, quantity and availability.

What is the difference between an industrial fuse and a DIN rail circuit breaker?

The fuse operates and is replaced; the DIN rail breaker resets after the fault is cleared. The choice depends on coordination, selectivity and circuit type.

What data do I need to order a replacement fuse?

Send a photo of the reference, visible dimensions, current, voltage, base type and circuit application. It should not be replaced only by similar size.

Can fuse holders be DIN rail mounted?

Yes, there are modular DIN rail fuse holders and industrial bases for other formats. Selection depends on the fuse and panel.

How are they installed or replaced?

The circuit must be de-energized, absence of voltage verified, the suitable extraction accessory used and the new fuse confirmed to match the design.

Are they suitable for protecting control circuits?

Yes, they are used in control and power circuits, provided fuse type, current, voltage and curve correspond to the application.

gG or aM fuse: which one applies?

gG for general protection: it covers overload and short circuit of conductors and equipment. aM only clears short circuits and is used with motors, where the overload relay covers the overload.

What is the advantage of a disconnect fuse holder?

It opens the circuit before the fuse is touched and allows replacement without exposure to live parts, doubling as a sectioning point on the panel DIN rail.
