The large DIN 472 internal circlip is a retaining ring for larger-diameter housings, used when the component is retained inside a casing, bushing, cylinder or machined bore. The function is the same as the smaller-range DIN 472 internal circlip: compress the ring, place it in the internal groove and allow it to act as an axial stop.
