01Technical description

The C-type compression connector joins grounding-grid taps by cold deformation with a hydraulic crimper and matching die, per UL 467. Properly installed — correct die and full press cycle — it forms an irreversible joint suitable for direct burial per IEEE 837.

TECTUL's copper compression connector is a C-type accessory for joining and tapping conductors in grounding grids, down conductors and equipotential connections where a crimped joint is specified. It works by controlled deformation of the connector over the conductor using a hydraulic crimping tool and compatible die; therefore selection should not be based only on appearance, but on cable gauge, tap geometry and available tool. It differs from exothermic welding because it does not create a metallurgical joint, but a permanent mechanical connection by compression. It differs from a ground rod connector because this reference is oriented to grid taps with copper conductors.
