Black Split Lock Washer

Its function should be read from the washer type: flat washers distribute load and protect the surface, split lock washers help retain tightening, toothed washers bite into the bearing face, and sealing washers work by deformation or compression. In this product the main material is black carbon steel and the technical family is Grower-type split lock washer. It differs because it is a split lock washer with black finish, different from a flat washer because it works through local elasticity. To quote without errors, report size, quantity, bolt or nut type, working environment, required finish and whether the purchase will be by unit or by kilo. We do not recommend substituting with a similar part if the drawing requires ASTM F436/F436M, 316 stainless steel, a specific gauge, hot-dip galvanized finish or a special reference.

Installation recommendations

• Install it between the nut and the flat washer or bearing surface, with the split visible and without flattening it by over-tightening.
• Select the size by the bolt's actual diameter, not only by appearance or by the washer outside diameter.
• Remove burrs, rust, loose paint or dirt from the bearing face before tightening.
• Do not use the split lock washer as a spacer; its function depends on working compressed in the assembly.
• Inspect the assembly after initial installation if there is vibration or settling of paint, wood, rubber or thin sheet.
